Alligator Lake
Columbia County purchased the Alligator Lake Recreation Area through the Florida Preservation 2000 grant program in 1997. With approximately 1,000 acres of green space and wetlands, the area provides several more laid back recreation opportunities.
Alligator Lake Park hosts the annual Alligator Lake 5k Invitational each fall, drawing nearly 1,000 high school cross country runners annually. The Park is a great place to walk, jog, or bicycle, and is also a popular fishing destination.
